Timesheets and payroll

Pay workers correctly without rebuilding timesheets

Because they are built from the shifts that were worked.

Your payroll run starts with timesheets that are already done. Check-ins become timesheet lines, exceptions are flagged for approval, SCHADS pay rules are applied, and the approved pay period exports to your payroll system.

What changes for you

Timesheets build themselves

Each worked shift becomes a timesheet line from the check-in and check-out, so coordinators approve exceptions instead of keying in hours.

Award pay applied consistently

Penalty rates, overtime, sleepover and broken shift allowances and kilometre allowances are worked out by rule under the SCHADS Award, not by memory.

Payroll in minutes

The approved pay period exports to Xero Payroll, MYOB or Employment Hero with pay items already mapped, ready to process.

From check-out to pay run

  1. Step 1Shift worked

Check-in, check-out, kilometres and active time captured in the app.

  3. Step 3Pay rules applied

SCHADS penalties, overtime and allowances calculated for each line.

  4. Step 4Exceptions approved

Team leaders resolve flagged lines and approve the period.

  5. Step 5Export to payroll

The award rules live in the system, not in one person’s head

Each worker’s classification, employment type and pay settings sit on their profile. When a shift is worked, CompanionAxis splits the hours into the right pay types, adds the allowances the shift type triggers and shows the result on the timesheet line, so approvers can see why a line costs what it does.

  • Weekday, evening, night, weekend and public holiday penalties
  • Overtime and minimum engagement
  • Sleepover, broken shift and kilometre allowances
  • Pay items mapped to your payroll system

What’s included

9 features

  • Timesheets from check-insCheck-in and check-out times from the worker app create the timesheet line against the rostered shift, with any active time during a sleepover added.
  • Clock-in and clock-out exceptionsLate starts, early finishes, missed check-outs and out-of-geofence check-ins are flagged with the worker’s reason, so approvers only look at what differs from the roster.
  • SCHADS pay rulesPay classification, evening, night, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday penalties, overtime, minimum engagement and casual loading set per worker and applied to every line.
  • Sleepover and broken shift allowancesSleepover allowances and broken shift allowances are added automatically from the shift type, with active overnight time paid separately.
  • Kilometre and travel allowancesKilometres logged in the app and travel time between shifts become allowance lines at your configured rates.
  • Approvals by teamTeam leaders approve their own workers’ timesheets, payroll sees what is still outstanding, and approved lines are locked against change.
  • Leave in the pay runApproved annual, personal and other leave flows into the pay period alongside worked hours.
  • Payroll exportExport approved timesheets to Xero Payroll, MYOB or Employment Hero (KeyPay), with each pay item mapped once in setup, so super is calculated with each pay run under Payday Super.

Questions buyers ask

Which payroll systems do you export to?

Xero Payroll, MYOB and Employment Hero (formerly KeyPay). Pay items are mapped once in setup, and each approved pay period exports with those mappings.

Do you keep up with SCHADS Award changes?

Pay rates and rule settings are held in configuration that your payroll team controls. We publish updated defaults when the award changes, and you approve them before they apply.

Can we pay from the roster if a worker forgets to check out?

Yes. A missed check-out is flagged as an exception, and the approver can accept the rostered time or enter the actual time, with the change recorded.
