Finding your way around: dashboard, menus and key screens

How the icon rail, side panel, top bar, search and alerts work in the CompanionAxis web app, so you can reach any page in a couple of clicks.

Before you begin

  • You can sign in to the web app.

Move between modules and pages

  1. Select a module icon in the left rail, for example Roster. Its first page opens and the side panel lists the module’s pages, grouped under headings such as Schedule and Workers.
  2. Hover over a rail icon to see a pop-up list of that module’s pages and jump straight to one.
  3. Watch the numbers on rail icons and side-panel items: they count work waiting for you, such as open shifts, timesheet exceptions or overdue doses.
  4. Use Settings at the bottom of the rail for organisation settings. The ? icon below it is Help.

Search for anything with the command palette

  1. Select Search participants, workers, pages… in the top bar, or press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac).
  2. Type at least two letters of a name to find participants, workers and houses you’re allowed to see, or the name of a page.
  3. Use the up and down arrow keys to choose a result and press Enter to open it.
  4. Use Quick actions at the top of the list to start common tasks: Log an incident, New assessment, New form, New shift, Generate invoices from shifts, Invite a worker and Bulk invite workers from a CSV.

Use the top bar

  1. Read the breadcrumb on the left: it shows the module and the page you’re on.
  2. If you work across two or more branches, use the branch button (All branches or a branch name) to narrow what pages show. It never changes what you’re allowed to access.
  3. Select the bell (Alerts) to see current alerts. Select See all to open Home → Alerts and notifications.
  4. Select the moon or sun icon to switch between dark and light mode.
  5. Select your initials to open the account menu: My profile, Organisation and sites, Users and roles, Plan and billing, integrations, Switch organisation (if you belong to more than one) and Sign out.

Read the Operations overview

  1. Go to Home → Operations overview. The tiles at the top show today’s key numbers; select one to open the page behind it.
  2. Work through Needs attention, which is ordered by urgency. Select All alerts for the full list.
  3. Check the cards that apply to your services, such as This week: delivered vs rostered hours, Care and compliance today, Budgets at risk, NDIS claims and Houses today.
  4. Use Log incident and Open roster at the top right for the two most common jobs.

Tidy the rail and work on smaller screens

  1. Select the pencil icon (Customise navigation) in the top bar and untick modules you don’t use. Show all brings them back. This is saved in your browser only.
  2. On a tablet, select the panel button next to the breadcrumb to open the side panel.
  3. On a phone, select the menu button (All modules) at the top left to see every module, and the module name button to open its pages.

Tips

  • Any search or open panel is kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a link to it.
  • The Getting started pill in the bottom-right corner (administrators only) opens your set-up checklist.

If something goes wrong

Search finds pages but not a participant I know exists

Record search only starts after two letters and only returns records within your role’s scope. Check the spelling, or ask an administrator whether your scope covers that participant’s branch or house.

A rail module disappeared

It may have been hidden with Customise navigation in this browser. Open it and select Show all.

A banner across the top says a module is paused or read-only

CompanionAxis has paused that module or integration for your organisation. Read the message and select Details, or contact support.
