The compliance hub is your NDIS Practice Standards self-assessment: every standard with its rating, owner, review date, gaps and the live records that evidence it. This tutorial explains what each part of the page shows and how to find what needs work.
Before you begin
- Your plan includes the Compliance hub (Professional plan) and the module is switched on.
- To change ratings you need the Assess standards permission (compliance.standards.assess), held by the Quality and compliance role. Other roles see the page read-only.
Open the hub
- Go to Quality → Practice Standards. The page is titled NDIS Practice Standards self-assessment.
- Read the line under the title. It says how many quality indicators are met out of the total, and how many records from across CompanionAxis are linked as evidence.
- If you deliver SIL, check the SIL registration readiness banner. It shows the percentage of SIL Practice Standards met and how many have gaps or are not assessed yet. Select Review SIL module to filter the table to those standards.
Read the four summary tiles
- Indicators met shows the percentage of quality indicators rated Met, with the count underneath.
- Open gaps shows gaps recorded against standards that are not closed, and how many are overdue.
- Evidence linked counts current links from incidents, training, policies, notes and forms.
- Gaps with actions counts open gaps that have an improvement action, and how many self-assessments are due for review in the next 14 days. Select the tile to open Quality → Continuous improvement.
Filter the standards table
- Select a module card (for example the Core module) to show only that module’s standards. Each card shows how many standards in it are met. Select the card again, or show all, to clear it.
- Use the switch above the table: All, Gaps and partial (rated Gap or Partially met) or Review due (self-assessments past their review date).
- Use the table filters Self-assessment (the rating) and Owner, or search by code, title or outcome.
- Read each row: Standard (title, code and number of indicators), Module, Self-assessment, Evidence (current evidence records; marked thin when there is little), Owner, Review (a red Due badge when overdue) and Gaps.
- Select a row to open the standard’s drawer with its indicators, gaps and evidence. See Mapping your evidence to the NDIS Practice Standards.
What the ratings mean
Each standard carries one of five ratings, set by your organisation:
- Met: the standard is fully in place and evidenced.
- Partially met: some indicators are in place; record the gaps.
- Gap: the standard is not met; record what is missing with an owner and a due date.
- Not assessed: nobody has rated it yet.
- Not applicable: the standard does not apply to the supports you deliver.
Ratings are your organisation’s own self-assessment. They are not a regulator finding.
Other tools on the page
- Select Risk register in the page header to go to Quality → Risk register.
- Select Export audit pack to build the pack for an audit (needs the export permission). See Preparing for a certification or verification audit.
- Scroll to the Audits and evidence card for Auditor access, Assessment cycles and Evidence rules. You see only the tabs your permissions allow.
- The Evidence suggestions card is a preview: Axis AI will suggest records for standards with thin evidence. Today it shows how many standards are flagged thin.
Tips
- Self-assessments, evidence links and changes are kept for 7 years. Every change is recorded in Quality → Audit log.
- Use the table’s export to share the self-assessment as a spreadsheet with your board or quality committee.
If something goes wrong
The rating appears as a badge, not a dropdown
You don’t hold the Assess standards permission. Ask an administrator to check your role in Settings → Users and roles.
Some evidence rows say Not visible to you
The linked record (for example a restricted incident) is outside your access. The count still includes it. Someone with access can open it.
The table shows Nothing matches this view
Select All in the switch above the table, clear the module card and remove the table filters.
