CompanionAxis doesn’t pay super itself. It sends each pay item with whether it counts as ordinary-time earnings (OTE), so your payroll system can calculate super and pay it with each pay run. This tutorial shows where to check OTE before you export.
Before you begin
- You need View pay runs; Configure payroll to change mappings.
- Super, tax and Single Touch Payroll are handled in your payroll system (Employment Hero, Xero Payroll or MYOB Payroll).
Check OTE on the pay run
- Go to Time → Pay runs and export and pick the pay period.
- Read the Ordinary-time earnings tile. Its note shows the super estimate at the super guarantee percentage, calculated in payroll.
- In This period by pay item, the OTE column marks each category OTE or Not OTE.
- In the export wizard’s last step, OTE (for super) shows the total, and each worker’s OTE is listed.
Map OTE categories to the right pay items
- In Pay-item mapping, choose your payroll system (Employment Hero, Xero or MYOB).
- Categories marked · OTE should map to pay items your payroll treats as ordinary-time earnings.
- Enter the pay item for each category and select Save mapping. It applies to the next export.
Pay super with the run
- Approve the period’s lines, close the period and export the pay run (see Exporting payroll to Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks).
- Finalise the pay run in your payroll system. It calculates super from the OTE and reports through Single Touch Payroll.
- Pay super with that pay run as your payroll system and the ATO’s Payday Super guidance require.
- Back in CompanionAxis, select Mark paid on the exported run.
Tips
- The super guarantee percentage used for the estimate is shown on Time → SCHADS pay rules → Allowances as Super guarantee (estimate only).
If something goes wrong
The super estimate looks too low
Only approved lines are in the run. Check Held back (not approved) and approve the remaining lines before cut-off.
An allowance is flagged OTE and you aren’t sure it should be
Check with your payroll specialist and map the category to the pay item your payroll treats correctly.
