Draft the NDIS Commission notification from the incident record, copy it into the Commission portal and record the Commission reference to stop the timer.
Before you begin
- The incident is classified as reportable (see Deciding whether an incident is reportable).
- To draft you need Prepare Commission notifications; to record lodgement you need Record Commission lodgement (Operations manager, Quality and compliance and Administrator by default).
- You can sign in to the NDIS Commission portal.
Find what is due
- Go to Quality → Incidents.
- At the top, the Reportable incidents awaiting NDIS Commission notification card lists each one with a countdown and the due time.
- Select Prepare notification on the row. The incident opens on the Commission notification tab.
Draft and lodge the notification
- On the notification card (for example Initial notification), select Draft from the record. You see that it was drafted from the incident record.
- Read each section. Use the copy button next to a section to copy it.
- Select Open NDIS Commission portal and paste each section into the portal form. Submit it there.
- Back in CompanionAxis, select Mark as submitted.
- Enter the Commission reference from the portal, check Submitted at and choose How (Commission portal, Phone or Email).
- Select Save. You see Notification recorded as lodged. Timer stopped. and the card shows Lodged with the reference.
If the incident was changed after drafting, select Redraft from the record before you copy.
Follow-up notifications
- After a 24-hour notification, a 5-day form card appears with its own due time. Draft and lodge it the same way.
- If the Commission asks for a final report, use Add a notification at the bottom of the tab, choose Final report (requested), set Requested and Due, and select Add notification.
- Choose Update or Withdrawal in the same card to record an update or a withdrawal.
Tips
- When the initial notification is lodged, the incident moves to Notified in the pipeline.
- Alerts go out 6 hours and 2 hours before a due time, and daily once it is overdue. Legal deadline reminders can’t be switched off.
- Managers can also prepare and lodge from the manager app: Incidents, then Notify the NDIS Commission.
If something goes wrong
That doesn’t look like an NDIS Commission reference.
Use the reference the portal gave you, for example NCR-12345.
This is after the due time. Record the reason for the late notification in the investigation.
You can still save. Add an investigation entry explaining why it was late.
Already lodged: This notification was lodged; record an update instead.
Use Add a notification with Update.
The incident can’t be voided because a notification was lodged.
Reclassify it instead, and record a Withdrawal notification if the Commission agrees.
