Working with patchy signal (coming soon)

Full offline working is being switched on organisation by organisation. This article explains what the app already does without signal, what offline capture adds once it is on, and what to do in the meantime.

Before you begin

• You are signed in and the app has synced at least once with signal.

What works without signal today

1. Screens show the last copy saved on the phone. A banner at the top reads Offline · showing what was saved, with the time of the last sync.
2. You can read your roster, shift details and participant information that synced before you lost signal.
3. When signal returns, pull down to refresh, or tap your picture and select Sync now under On this phone.

Check whether offline capture is on

1. Tap your picture at the top of any main screen.
2. Under On this phone, read Offline capture. On means the app can save your work without signal; Off for your organisation means it can’t yet.
3. The same panel shows Connection, Last sync and Waiting to send.

When offline capture is on

1. Clocking in and out, notes, incident reports, medication doses, leave requests and unavailable days are saved on the phone with the time you did them.
2. The banner reads Offline · and the number saved on this phone, sent when you reconnect.
3. When you reconnect they send automatically, or tap Send now. A green banner confirms when they have gone.
4. If something was changed by someone else meanwhile, the banner says so; tap OK and tell your coordinator.

What to do in the meantime

1. Open your shift while you still have signal, so its details are on the phone.
2. If you can’t clock in or out, phone your coordinator. They can record it with Check in for a worker or Check out for a worker on the shift.
3. Write your note and any incident report as soon as you have signal again.

Tips

• Work saved offline must reach CompanionAxis within 24 hours by default; older items are refused and need a manual timesheet entry.

If something goes wrong

“This offline event is too old to record.”

The item waited too long on the phone. Ask your coordinator for a manual timesheet entry.

Names and places are missing on the roster

The banner reads Offline copy: names and places show when you reconnect. Reconnect and pull down to refresh.
